Dh & I made a deal to never buy something on the spur of the moment. But I must say he was a good salesman......dh came very close to signing on the deal....then did a search on the net. Tons of dissatisfied costumers! .... But it got me thinking that co. wasn't right for us maybe another one would be? If you do have home security sys. do you like it? Is it worth the $$? I know some have you sign a contract for 5 years etc Dh didn't like the idea of being locked in for so looong. Any thoughts? What if you move? 5 years is a long time. We pay every month. We have ADT. The system monitors the doors and windows. We also 'upgraded' to have a fire/smoke detector so the fire dept is called automatically for that alarm. It's 40$/month. They "moved" us for free, which really just meant that when we moved we didn't have to pay for the basic installation, just additional features (like the basic install includes two door alarms but if you have more exterior doors and want window alarms, you pay more at install, nothing additional each month though) .........................................

Yes its not too much, we only our main floor windows & did motion & doors I know some have you sign a contract for 5 years etc Dh didn't like the idea of being locked in for so looong. Any thoughts? Didn't have to sign a long contract I think it was a year but they like to automatically take the money out. We only pay 34.00 a month. They install for free certain things, if you want some extra stuff you pay a 1x fee & the monthly fee doesn't go up at all. We did 4 extra bottom floor windows & it wasn't even $100 we paid out of pocket. I can give you their 800 # they can tell you all the info on the phone & see if its available near you. My sis did her after we did ours & she is really aggressive & got them to get the monthly fee down to 29.95 a month! So you can work with these people Its called Safe Home Security. What if you move? 5 years is a long time, we don't plan on moving but we didn't sign this long.

Oldtimer Posts: 2579 07/17/2008 1:13 PM	I had one installed when we first moved in. We pay $29.95. I LOVE it and would do it again in a heartbeat. I didn't get it to keep people out, per se. I was more concerned with knowing if someone was in my house, kwim? We have motion sensors throughout the 1st floor and basement. We have door sensors on all the doors on the 1st floor. I get a call if the alarm has been activated while I'm out. My dh used to travel ALOT when we first moved her. Like 3 of the 4 weeks/month. I could never sleep in the apartment by myself. Now with the alarm, I sleep so much better knowing if that someone broke in, I'd know about it. ETA- I signed a 5 year contract. We weren't planning on moving for at least that long.
