Toni, I so remember those days where you are! It really does get better & that program does work. I know I'm not running real far, but sometimes 10
minutes has gone by before I look at the time. I usually look at mileage first....no reason why. So, just hang in there & it does get better......but, yes
I remember thinking "crap this is hard!"

Girls, I did 3 miles on the TM and it felt great! I set my mind up to do 2, but then I just kept going. I wonder if the burger from supper the night before
helped with the endurance?? I try to make sure I'm drinking enough water beforehand, and maybe that helped too.
Keep it up ladies! Kasey |

Nice, Kasey! And hey...food/fueling is SUCH an individual thing that burgers may very well have given you that satisfaction and energy to have a good run...so
I'm gonna go with yummy burgers=awesome run.

I have a carb snack before I go. For no other reason than I usually have a snack in the evening about that time anyway.
Tonight it was some honey roasted cashews, wasabi peas I think it was more than I ate for dinner! So I did it ya'll, I made it to week 3 of the coolrunning c25k program... tonight was: 5 min warmup, 90 second run, 90 sec walk, 3 mins run, 3 min walk 90 sec run, 90 sec walk, 3 min run and then the rest walk (30 secs to the door) I was glad to be done, and shocked I did the 3 min sections!

You guys are doing soooooo well!!!! Hearing all of these success stories only motivates me more!
Yesterday I did three miles of walk run. Ran 27 of the 48 laps. Today I ran 2.06 miles in 23 min then did some strength training for my arms. What is frustrating is that I need to lose 20 lbs and have not lost a single pound since I started back with my running stuff. Sure if I weigh myself daily I am going down but then back up as the week closes and then I am still where I started. THink I should just stop eating!!! |

You're doing great, Jodi! Be patient....it'll start coming off!
This morning I had a regular ol run (general aerobic, as they call them on my marathon plan...your middle-of-the-road, putting in the miles pace), with these cool things called strides or strideouts at the end. I'd never done them before starting this plan but they are REALLY fun. You do them at the end of whatever run you're scheduled to do, and they're these 20-30 second accelerations to near all-out but not quite sprint. Then you just jog really easy in between, and do another as soon as you're recovered from the last strideout. They're not for speed work but designed to help you improve your running form, and they're short enough in duration and at the right place in the workout that you can kind of have a good time going fast for those little spurts, knowing you're pretty much done with the run whenever you decide you've had enough of the strides. Anyway-it was fun and I actually enjoy these DURING the run...so thought I'd share.

Sounds fun, karah! Today is a run day, but the boys & I had a rough morning w/ meltdowns, so I never did get it planned perfectly to get on the TM. Tonight
is busy too, so if I don't run after bedtimes tonight, then tomorrow am for sure.
Do you guys think it's harder to run outside or on a TM? I think I asked this ? awhile back.....and I've only run outside 2x this summer! One was a 5K, and the other was on a track. I LOVE our TM and having a TV in front of me kasey |

As a mental exercise I find treadmill running MUCH MUCH harder. Especially anything over 5 miles. I know I will be ready to put a bullet in my brain on my
weekday runs in a month or so when I start hitting peak mileage.
That said...having the TM at home now is a fantastic convenience. But outdoor running (trail running in particular, but road/paved surface running too) just feels easier to me. Give me fresh air, sunshine and changes of scenery, please! Hope you have a great run tonight or tomorrow morning, Kasey!

Well, I have only used a TM a few times, at a gym. I think for me, if I had the TM in the home it would be convenient, too convenient and I would ignore it.
Making a "date" with my mom to go makes it so I have a harder time making an excuse. If I had to depend completely on myself, then I wouldn't do
it. Right now I don't have a good place to have the treadmill in the house so it's a non issue.
The weather here is never too cold so it's either too hot or raining... but I guess I've grown accustomed to it... and hope to continue to get used to it. I see people running when it's 95 degrees out, in the middle of the day, so I know it can be done We've got a nice trail right near my house (about a mile from my front door) so I'd like to start being able to use it, whether running or biking. Since it's a mile there and back, I have to work up to where the 2 miles traveling to/fro wasn't killing me

I find advantages and disadvantages to both. It is just your preference. Hey...whatever keeps us motivated is better!!!
Today I did 40 min on the elliptical machine. Covered 3.5 mil and burned @400 cal! Still like running better! |

Wow, the eliptical burns a lot of cals! I just did 2.5 miles on the TM, plus 5 minutes each in warm/cool down & I think I burned close to 300 cals. I had
to really cool down quick as both boys were crying during their naps! Ryan's nuk fell out of the crib, and Nathan tripped over a toy (he does quiet time).
Aaaccck....DH was outside working on the yard.
ETA: I had Taco Bell last night to test out Karah's mexican food theory....haven't eaten there in years! I guess my energy level wasn't as high as when I had that burger, but I'll just have to try Mex again sometimg to make sure Kasey |

Back from my run...
tonight was: 5 min warmup, 90 second run, 90 sec walk, 3 mins run, 90 secs walk, 90 sec run, 2 min walk, 4 min run to the front door... (I messed up on the second part of the interval so we winged it) I was so excited I did FOUR mins at the end... not a sprint like Karah was saying but it still felt good to push myself a little further. I just kept thinking "if I run I will be home sooner"
